Traditional craft Renovation- Chinese Batik
Chinses batik has 2000 years of history, one of the minorities (Bouyi) are inheriting this traditional craft by generations. I choose it as my starting point because I find the process is indeed interesting.
However, instead of using its traditional prints and batik blue colour, I would like to do something different, making the collection not that 'traditional' looking. It is more about the vibe of Chinese traditional paintings, in an abstract way, with an elegant and delicate feeling.
I am working with a public welfare program. I would design collections with the traditional crafts of Bouyi minority in China, the clothes will be produced by local craftsmen, all profits we earn will get back to local people. It is a meaningful thing to do, bringing a better life to the world.
